The coolest thing about video is that it connects us with other people from all over the world.

The Connected Stories Project is about bringing together different people from around the world and sharing YOUR story. When we bring together our stories in a singular voice, something beautiful and amazing happens.

Part of the inspiration behind this project was letting people know how easy and fun videos can be to make. They don’t have to be complicated, and you definitely don’t need to memorize long lines.

It’s about knowing what type of video you want, and making an action plan.

I knew for this project, I wanted to make it easy for people to get involved. Sometimes, people hesitate actually getting started with making videos because of the technical stuff. It can be a lot of work to set up your camera correctly, knowing which technologies to use, delivering your lines, then importing it into your computer for editing.

The solution was encouraging participants to use just their smart phones and delivering only 3 lines. It made their video-making process a whole lot easier (and faster!), and ultimately, encourages more people to join in.

I absolutely LOVED editing this project because it’s magical to different faces from all walks of life come together in one place, and shared in a video for people to enjoy. In fact, I had so much fun with this, that I think I’ll start doing this every month.

If you want to join in the video party and be part of the December edition of the “Connected Stories Project” (released in early January), simply send me your video with the following:

  • Shot on iPhone, smartphone or laptop.
  • “Hi, I’m (name), and I make (noun). (nouns) are cool because (reason). And videos let people know about it.
  • Email your video to emmy(at)emmywu.com OR shoot me an email requesting the Dropbox link.
  • Include your company URL to be included.

That’s IT! Isn’t that super fun and easy right?!

Want to continue the conversation? I’d love for you to join me on Instagram. You’ll see posts about video, travel, and growing a creative business, while always honouring your heart and soul in the process.
